Your Heart:
At Holland’s Pharmacy we can reduce your risk of heart disease through our smoking cessation program, cholesterol testing, blood pressure testing, and BMI checks. We at Hollands and you in your own home can focus on the modifiable risk factors and how we can improve them so that you can live a happier, healthier, and longer life.
Modifiable risk factors of cardiovascular disease are the factors that can be changed to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. The principal modifiable risk factors are:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Smoking
- Being physically inactive
- Being overweight or obese
- Excess alcohol consumption
Most of the above risk factors are associated with an increase risk of development of fatty deposits, called atherosclerotic plaques, in the blood vessels of the cardiovascular system. Therefore if we can reduce this plaque formation we can help reduce the risk of development of cardiovascular disease causing heart attacks, angina, and stroke.
